MacQUARRIE - MacDONALD, Dorothy Hughena: Tuesday January 30, 2007, Halifax Herald: MacDONALD, Dorothy Hughena - 88, 79 Acadia Ave., Stellarton, formerly of Sunny Brae, Pictou Co., passed away peacefully
at home on Sunday, January 28, 2007. Born in Sunny Brae, she was a daughter of the late Lawson and Ena (Cruickshank) MacQuarrie. Dorothy was a resident of Stellarton for the past 14 years and prior to that was
a long-time resident of Sunny Brae. She was a member of Bridgeville United Church. Dorothy worked as a cook for some time for Hugh Erskine at his lumber mill. She was a member of MacDonald Rebekah Lodge No. 108,
Sunny Brae. Dorothy enjoyed knitting as a pastime. Surviving are son, Lawson (Norma), Oshawa, Ont.; daughter, Christena "Teedee" (Doug) Holley, Brampton, Ont.; sons, Finlay (Julie), Stellarton; Gregory
"Greg", Stellarton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; sister, Mary MacQuarrie, Stellarton; brother, George (Mary) MacQuarrie, Middle Musquodoboit; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, J. Russell MacDonald; son, Malcolm "Malkie"; brothers, Mack, Jim, and Ronald; sisters, Catherine, Beatrice. Her remains will rest in H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow, for visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m., Rev. John Roy officiating. Cremation to follow with burial of ashes in Sunny Brae Cemetery. Donations in memory of Dorothy may be made to the Palliative Care Society of Aberdeen Hospital or Victorian Order of Nurses.
