Charles Leslie McIntosh was the fourth child born to Alexander A. McIntosh and Elizbaeth J. Fraser according to the City of Providence Birth Register of 1882. Reference # 82-390-28. He was born July 3, 1882 at home, 44 Nichols Street, Providence, Rhode Island.

His WWI Draft Card, dated 12 September 1918, states that he was a Tool Dresser with the Harris & Corliss Steam Engine Company located at Park and Promenade Streets, Providence, Rhode Island. At that time he lived with his mother, Elizabeth McInotsh at 21 Whitford Avenue, Providence, Rhode Island.
According to his Death Certificate his usual residence was 31 Ambrose Street, Providence, Rhode Island. He died at 15 Rebecca Street, Providence, Rhode Island at the age of 52 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He was a blacksmith employed by the American Screw Company. He last worked in January 1930 having spent 30 years with that company. Mrs. Earl C. Akers (relationship unknown, maybe his married sister, 305 Newtonville Avenue, Newtonville, Massachusetts was the informant of the above information.

On 29 MAY 1905 when Charles Leslie was 22, he married Ellen Louise DWYER, daughter of Richard Francis DWYER (1856-7 DEC 1893) & Mary Ann LOUGHLIN (3 OCT 1856-13 MAR 1926). Rev. William Pyne. Witnesses: Charles Higgins and Ellen A. S. Carey. Born on 3 MAR 1886 in Providence, Rhode Island. Ellen Louise died in Providence, Rhode Island, in APR 1969; she was 83. Ellen Louise Dwyer petitioned the Rhode Island Superior Court, sitting at Pawtucket, Rhode Island, for a divorce from Charles Leslie McIntosh on 20 April 1914 . The petition was filed on 22 April 1914 along with a citation to Charles Leslie McIntosh to appear before the court on the first Monday of June 1914 in Providence, Rhode Island. Charles Leslie McIntosh was served the citation on 30 April 1914 by Arthur Sherman, Deputy Sheriff. He did not appear in the Superior Court to contest the petition for divorce. A trial date was set and was held on 7 July 1914. Charles Leslie McIntosh did not attend the trial and the petition for divorce was granted to Ellen Louise McIntosh.
After the customary six-month waiting period had elapsed, the final decree of Divorce was granted in the Superior Court of Providence, Rhode Island on 11 January 1915 “upon the ground of neglect to provide. And it is further ordered, adjudged and decreed that the petitioner be and she is hereby awarded the custody of her three minor children Helen Louise, Charles Albert and Alfred Frasier McIntosh.”
Ellen Louise is still known as Ellen Louise McIntosh on the 1920 US Census of Rhode Island. At that time she lived with her mother and sister, Frances. Joseph Connell also lived there as a boarder. Ellen Lousie McIntosh later married Joseph Connell. I am still looking for the marriage registration of Joseph Connell and Ellen Dwyer (McIntosh) which I think may have occured in 1921 or1922.
Ellen Louise Dwyer was affectionately know to her great-grandchildren as Nana Connell.
