Born on 10 JUN 1920 in Centredale, Pictou County, Nova Scotia. Charles Simon died in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, on 19 MAR 2004; he was 83. Buried in Riverton Cemetery, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, Canada. Occupation: Carpenter: Employed with Eastern Woodworkers, J.J.Grant Ltd.,New Glasgow,N.S.,and Glen Haven Manor from where he retired.

He married (1) MADELINE GRANT MACDONALD December 02, 1942 in Lorne,Pictou County,Nova Scotia, daughter of JOHN MACDONALD and JESSIE CAMERON. She was born 1920 in Sunny Brae,Pictou County,Nova Scotia, and died July 30, 1944. He married (2) ELIZABETH ISABEL GREEN 1946 in Barney's River,Nova Scotia, daughter of WILLIAM GREEN and JESSIE MACLAREN. She was born July 31, 1927 in North Sydney,Cape Breton,Nova Scotia.

Mail Star/Chronicle Herald March 20,2004-RUSSELL-Charles Simon-Passed away at the age of 83, on March 19,2004,in Aberdeen Hospital.Born June 10,1920,in Centerdale,Pictou Co.,he was a son of the late John A. and Christena(MacMillan) Russell.A carpenter by trade,Charlie worked at Eastern Woodworkers,J.J.Grant Ltd. and Glen Haven Manor,from where he retired.He was a member of the Sharon St.John United Church where he was an Elder and Honorary Elder for 49 years.He was a devoted husband to his wife,Betty for 56 years and a loving father and precious "Duppie" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.His happiest times were spent playing with his grandchildren and his dog,Koby.He took great pride in beautifying his home,gardens,and car.Charlie is survived by his wife,Betty;children,Madelyn(Jack Langlois)Evans,Carolyn(Van)MacLeod,both of Stellarton;Gordon,Halifax;grandchildren,Keah(Arron)Callaghan,Kylee Evans,Matthew,Paul,Heidi and Hayley MacLeod;great-grandchildren,Evan and Benjamin Callahagan;sisters,Jessie(Robert)Miller,Isabel Oliver;both of New Glasgow;brother,Fred(Pearl) Wallace.He was predeceased by his brothers,William,Ross,Robert,and Hugh;first wife Madeline G.MacDonald.Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.Sunday,March 21,in H.C.MacQuarrie Funeral home ,Stellarton.Funeral service will be held at 3p.m.Monday,March 22,in Sharon St.John United Church,Stellarton,Rev.Howard Crooks officiating.Burial to take place at a later date.Memorial donations may be made to Sharon St.John United Church or a charity of your choice.
